To leave the batt'ry that you make 'gainst mine, ice scream2
We've got very exciting news today as we announce Glen Foxy: The Game - nah, I'm just kidding. Today we're thrilled to announce that our own Deputy Editor extraordinaire, Mr Glen Fox, has been appointed as Editor of PocketGamer.co.uk. A round of applause please, everyone.

Fox started his career back in 2012 when he started blogging, writing guides for Prima Games, and then headed up a Hong-Kong based mobile games studio as lead writer. In 2014 he started writing for Steel Media, rising quickly up the ranks to become editor of Quality Index and 148 Apps, before subsequently taking up a position as Deputy Editor with Pocket Gamer.

As Fox is a keen and enthusiastic chap this next era of Pocket Gamer brings about a new and exciting chapter as we continue to produce important news, guides, features, videos, and opinion pieces. The site will also be getting a makeover come 2017 so brace yourselves, ladies and gents.

"I'm truly delighted to be appointed as Pocket Gamer's editor and I'm proud to be part of such an awesome team at Steel Media, who continue to thrive on the cutting edge of the industry," says our beloved Editor. "I firmly believe that 2016 was the biggest year in mobile yet. We saw the launch of the ultimate mobile game in Clash Royale, the biggest mobile game ever in Pokemon GO, and breakout hits like Slither.io and Color Switch, demonstrating that you don't need a publisher to make it big. That's a huge positive that no other platform to date has offered." Amen to that.

Please join us all in congratulating Fox's fantastic promotion and know that with him on the case, Pocket Gamer will continue to grow and thrive as the leading website for mobile and handheld gamers.

Pixeljam Games is getting ready to take us on a musical journey through space on November 19th with Last Horizon.

The studio is known for games like Glorkian Warrior and Potatoman Seeks the Troof but Last Horizon is a departure from those types of lighthearted titles.

It's a pretty game about survival in space with procedurally generated planets and deep ambient music.

The idea is to explore space in a small ship and land on planets to harvest their resources so you can continue on. Keeping an eye on fuel, oxygen, and hull integrity is what it's all about.

But this comes with a risk. If you start taking too many resources you'll attract unwanted attention from hostile alien life.

So it's somewhat about striking a balance between taking enough to survive and not so much that you destroy planets and their populations.
Hold on to your hats people, because I've got some shocking news for you. Angry Birds 2 is coming. It's so close you can almost feel the beat of its wings. July 30th. Add that date to your calendars.

We don't have any other details about the game, but I imagine it'll involve hurling birds at pigs. And the birds will all have different skills and be different colours.

Rovio will be revealing more about the game on July 28th apparently, so we'll probably learn more about it then. And when we do we'll tell you, because sharing is fun.

"And leave this darling spot--our house of dreams?" said Anne incredulously. "Oh, Gilbert, it's--it's unthinkable!"

A major new Fallout Shelter update has gone live today, which, among other things, adds pets to the game. Finally, Dogmeat is going portable!

Having a pet around your vault will increase Dweller happiness and even boost productivity.

And if Dwellers are not pulling their weight then they best watch out. As Overseer, you have now been granted the power to evict lazy inhabitants and banish them to the Wasteland. Forever.

Let's see how they cope with a camp of Super Mutants with that layabout attitude.

Dwellers have also got some nifty new pick-up lines to share with the opposite sex to try and charm the pants off them. Whether any of them will work is another matter entirely.

And on top of all of that, there's a new Sell All feature for excess inventory, further Dweller management improvements, new objectives and a load of new unspecified optimisations and improvements.

Basically, stop reading this and go and get it now. You can grab the game complete with the new update on the App Store or Google Play.

"No; and I don't want to--at least, I think I don't. Death grows friendlier as we grow older. Not that one of us really wants to die though, Marshall. Tennyson spoke truth when he said that. There's old Mrs. Wallace up at the Glen. She's had heaps of trouble all her life, poor soul, and she's lost almost everyone she cared about. She's always saying that she'll be glad when her time comes, and she doesn't want to sojourn any longer in this vale of tears. But when she takes a sick spell there's a fuss! Doctors from town, and a trained nurse, and enough medicine to kill a dog. Life may be a vale of tears, all right, but there are some folks who enjoy weeping, I reckon."
Are you a fan of those games that try to mix physical figurines with virtual screens?

While not a novel concept on mobile (see the stylish Beasts of Balance) Dungeon Mini is trying to export the idea to dungeon crawling games in a Kickstarter that launched late last week.

The idea is that you'd use real figurines to fight, collect loot and advance through rooms. This means that you'll control your character quite literally, through the figurines and mimic the action of swinging an axe and more. you'll also draw runes and solve puzzles on the screen.

For now there are two characters: A bow-wielding Elf and a Dwarf that wields an Axe. Multiplayer and more classes are possible but should be one of the campaign's stretch goals.

As the game requires you to place the figurines directly on your screen, it will only work with iPads and Android tablets.

While the universe itself doesn't look particularly original, the idea of mixing physical objects with our device's touch screen is always neat and unique. And if it's as great as Beasts of Balance then I'm all in. Check the Kickstarter video pitch with the link below.
Source
